The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
What it is. Why it matters. How it can impact your or your partners’ organisations.
The primary objective of the GDPR is to provide EU individuals with protections in relation to the collection and use of their personal data.
The GDPR allows them to know when and how their personal data are being used, for how long, and whether their personal data are being sent abroad. Any company doing business in Europe – and even those outside Europe who handle the personal data of Europeans – are subject to the rules of the GDPR.
The GDPR contains a complex set of rules, and these are set against the backdrop of a lengthy interpretive pre-amble which is a common feature of EU regulations.
The good news is our Assessment will familiarize you or your partners with the core Principles in the GDPR. Our customized Action Plan will direct your further learning of the GDPR and provide a foundation for your organisation’s GDPR compliance.
Full compliance with the GDPR is mandatory as of May 25, 2018.
Failing to comply could be devastating as fines could reach up to 20,000,000 Euros or 4% of a group’s global turnover* (whichever is higher).
*A company’s “turnover” comprise the total sales made by that organisation from goods and services during their annual accounting period.
